Wing problem ruins Virgin's Thursday
The Virgin Racing team has revealed that it will be forced to skip the rest of Thursday's test session at Jerez after Timo Glock's car lost its front wing on the main straight shortly after 11 o'clock. With no spare parts available, the debutants are presented with no option but to call off the day's running with just 11 laps completed.

After recording just five laps on Wednesday due to heavy rain at the Spanish venue, Virgin was pleased to see the sun shining by 11am (GMT +1) on Thursday following another sprinkling just before 10am. With the first stoppage having come for Nico Hülkenberg's Williams shortly before half past nine, the red flags flew again for Glock in order to allow marshals sufficient time to clear debris from the race track.
"This morning we experienced a front wing mounting problem which caused the wing to come off the car at the beginning of a run," Virgin Technical Director Nick Wirth explained. "The cause has already been identified.
"Unfortunately, we're missing one or two spare parts which will hopefully arrive this evening, so we won't be able to run for the rest of the day. In the short amount of running that we've achieved so far, we are very encouraged by what we've seen and we have gathered some vital aero data which is very much in the range of what we were predicting. We look forward to resuming the programme tomorrow morning."
