U.S., Russia hold Syria cease-fire talks as deadline passes without action

Citat:
Jabhat al-Nusra, whose forces are intermingled with moderate rebel groups in the northwest near the Turkish border, is particularly problematic. Russia was said to have rejected a U.S. proposal to leave Jabhat al-Nusra off-limits to bombing as part of a cease-fire, at least temporarily, until the groups can be sorted out.

Turkey Blocks Russian Flight Under Open Skies Treaty, Moscow Vows Response

Citat:
Ryzhkov called the Turkish move "a dangerous precedent of uncontrolled military activity carried out by a member of the Open Skies Treaty.

"We are not going to leave this violation of the treaty by Turkey without proper attention and adequate response," the official stressed.

Citat:
Russia also continues to fail to meet its obligations under the 1992 Treaty on Open Skies by “preventing State Parties [including the United States] from effective observation of the entire territory of Kaliningrad in accordance with treaty rights.” Among other violations, Russia also imposed illegal air space restrictions near Chechnya, and along the Russia-Georgia border, and has failed to provide priority flight clearance “for certain Open Skies flights” above the territory of Russia. Russia’s obstructionism resulted in shortened or cancelled missions, which translates into wasted resources.

Daily: Turkish border officers cooperate with ISIL

Citat:
Wiretapped telephone calls between a leading figure from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and several members of the Turkish military reveal cooperation between ISIL and the Turkish military in letting smugglers cross the Turkey-Syria border, a report by a Turkish daily has alleged.

Documents prepared by a prosecutor's office contain a large number of transcripts of “friendly” telephone communications between military officers and Mustafa Demir, the ISIL member in charge of Turkey's Syria border, the Cumhuriyet daily said on Monday.

The prosecutor's documents reportedly say Turkish military officers also met with Demir on the border. The ISIL leader is indicated in the documents as the person behind the transportation of bombs from Syria to Turkey.

Turkish government co-operated with al-Qaeda in Syria, says former US ambassador

Citat:
Turkey has directly supported al-Qaeda's wing in Syria in defiance of the United States, the former American ambassador to Ankara has said.

The Turkish authorities thought they could work with extremist Islamist groups in the Syrian civil war and at the same time push them to become more moderate, Francis Ricciardone, who was until late June the US ambassador to Ankara, told journalists in a briefing.

That led them to work with Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda's branch, as well as hardline Salafi Islamist groups like Ahrar al-Sham. Mr Ricciardone said that he tried to persuade the Turkish government to close its borders to the groups, but to no avail.

"We ultimately had no choice but to agree to disagree," he said. "The Turks frankly worked with groups for a period, including al Nusra, whom we finally designated as we're not willing to work with."

Turkey allowed its borders to be used as a conduit for aid, weapons and volunteers heading for the Syrian rebel cause from the start of the uprising, and there have long been accusations that it did not do enough to distinguish between "moderate" groups and extremists.

But this is the first time a senior American official - albeit one no longer in service - has said openly that Turkey was working with al-Qaeda.

ona je levak.
to kar ona govori ne šteje.
Njo bi morali iz parljamenta vrečt, ker ni politično korektna. V kakšni demokratični državi ( recimo turčija, zda etc ) bi jo že posebne službe preiskovale zaradi potencialnega hujskaštva, podpiranja sovražnika in vele izdaja
