I worked for an aluminum extrusion factory producing early Takata airbag cylinders back in 1995 in Ontario Canada. My boss told me that Takata knew the airbags were failing. We extruded the cylinders from slugs in a massive 2 story press. We had a problem cleaning the parts of the lubricants used for extrusion. They ended up using us a a manual hydrochloric and sulfuric acid bath we called etching before sending through washer. But they knew and we knew they cylinders were failing back then . TAKATA was fully ware from way before the time frame e in this video. Would really like to talk to this guy as the acid wash was a hidden process. Done only on night shifts and hidden in the rear of the factory. No safety equipment at all. Was a brutal process to extrude and clean the cylinders. TAKATA blamed the following machining process of the cylinders back then for the failures . but I'm sure the extrusion process was also to blame. Sketchy stuff. This Factory I worked in for for 13 years went bankrupt in 2008. My x boss was head of engineering. He would know lots more about this if you want a contact name
